Adriano Fuorivia - International Pathway Academy Consultant
Adriano Fuorivia has been involved in the game of tennis for over 25 years, having worked as a provincial, national, and personal coach for numerous top talents in the international tennis landscape. On the court, Fuorivia has been an integral part in developing some of Canada’s top national champions over the last decade. Off the court, Fuorivia's framework around creating an all encompassing team dynamic to training, partnerships, and commitment has resulted in a consistent championship formula.
Most known for his success with current ATP rising star Denis Shapovalov (ATP career high #10), Fuorivia coached the phenom to numerous milestones in his young career that included:
Wimbledon Junior Singles Championship (2016)
US Open Junior Doubles championship (2015) ,
Davis Cup Junior Championship (2015)
On the pro circuit Fuorivia was coaching Shapovalov while winning numerous men's pro titles, and during his infamous upset of then top 20 ATP ranked Nick Kyrgios at the Rogers Cup in 2016. Fuorivia continues to be part of Shapovalov’s support team for over 12 years
In recognition for his work and success, Fuorivia was awarded the 2016 Tennis Professionals Association Coaching Excellence Award. The pair continue to have a committed relationship, as Fuorivia accompanied Shapovalov on the pro tour during the early part of 2019 and was named by Shapovalov as the Captain of Canada for the inaugural ATP Cup in 2020.
Additionally, Fuorivia has continued to be a key contributor in the field of Junior and Pro Tennis. Some of his major achievements include:
As captain of Team Canada for the inaugural 2020 ATP Cup held in Australia; Team reached quarter finals Including notable wins over Greece and Australia
Canadian Junior Davis Cup Captain in 2018 in which the team qualified in Mexico to play the finals in Hungary (top two players were personally coached by Fuorivia)
Tennis Canada National Centre High Performance Consultant (2018 to current)
Two Coaching Excellence awards for work with Canadian #1 junior Joshua Lapadat for winning the U16 and U18 National singles championships, as well as two U18 National doubles championships while reaching a career high #53 ITF Junior world ranking
Coached Romanian Sebastian Gima to U18 Romanian National singles and doubles championships and a career high #39 ITF Junior world ranking
Historically involved with Tennis Canada for over 15 years as Manager of Tennis Development and a high performance consultant
