Bobby Mahal

ATI Academy Owner since 2014-Present

In the Spring of 2014 Advantage Tennis International at Veneto, was formed.

Since then Tennis Director Bobby Mahal has led ATI to be one of the preeminent High Performance Centres in Canada. In 2024 Tennis Canada recognized ATI as a Gold status Tennis Canada Official Tennis Development Centre’s (TDC).

Players from all over the World have trained and competed at ATI. Many ATI students have gone on to pursue both college and Professional Careers.

Bobby has worked with notable International players: Sumit Nagal, Karman Thandi, Darya Frayman, Siddhant Bhantia, Saketh Myneni, Rasheeda McAdoo among others.

In 2022, Mahal captained Team Ontario to a bronze medal at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara.

Bobby is currently the coach for Ellie Daniels (ITF Top #100 U18 in the World)

Prior to forming ATI, Bobby did the following:

-2010-2014 Bobby was the personal full-time coach For Sumit Nagal. Sumit went from a Top 10 Under 14 Indian National ranking in 2010 to the Under 14 and Under 16 Indian National Champion in 2011 and reach a career high Junior ITF World Under 18 ranking of #23 in the World. Nagal would go on to win the Junior Wimbledon Doubles Title in 2015 and eventually breakthrough the top #100 on the ATP Tour in singles highlighted with a 4-set loss to Roger Federer at the 2019 US Open..

-2008-2010 Bobby was the Director of Coaching for the Foundation for Indian Sporting Talent Powered by Apollo Tyres in Bangalore, India. Headed by Former ATP World #1 Doubles Player Mahesh Bhupathi, the program was designed to identify and nurture the top junior talent in the country.

- 2005-2007 Bobby owned two academies geared towards High Performance Junior Programs in Brampton and Mississauga. Mahal also had done coaching and consulting for various ITF Junior, ATP and WTA Players as well as help in develop programs the United States, India, Dubai, Bahamas and Belarus.  

- 2001-2005 - Tennis Analyst, Producer and commentator for Rogers Sportsnet as well as the Tennis TV and the world tennis feed.  

- 1993-2000 Bobby had an ATP Men’s Singles and Doubles Ranking. Bobby is one of a few people who has competed, coached and commentated at the ATP National Bank Open.

- 1994 Bobby received a full scholarship to the University of California at Berkeley. He graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree. He played in the #1 spot in Singles for three of the four seasons, and played in the #1 spot in Doubles all four seasons. 

- Won three Canadian Junior National Championship titles and four Ontario Junior Closed Provincial titles. Between 1991-93 he was a a key team member in Representing Canada at the Junior Davis Cup Teams (Under 16 World Youth Cup and Under 18 Sunshine Cup).

- Certified Tennis Canada Coach 3.

- In 2006, Bobby was inducted in to the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame.
